BJP opposes simultaneous elections
ITANAGAR, Jan 22: The Bharatiya Janata Party Arunachal Pradesh unit today headed by its state President Tai Tagak accompanied by National General Secretary Tapir Gao, MLAs Tamiyo Taga, Tapen Siga, Dr. Tangor Tapak and Party spokesperson Techi Necha submitted a representation to Chief Election Commissioner New Delhi. APPSU visits Tarasso circle
ITANAGAR, Jan 22: The new executive members of All Papum Poma Students Union (APPSU) led by its President Teli Tadap Camdir and General Secretary Tem Takar recently visited Tarasso circle to know the ground realities of area. IMCLS decries poor learning environment

ANINI, Jan 22: A series of awareness campaign on ‘Education’ was held in Dibang
Valley district from January 2-
Meetings were held in Anini and all major circle headquarters telling people as to why education should be the leading community concern today and what the community could do in addressing basic educational challenges.
The campaign brought together 500 participants from different villages, political parties, youth, students, government officials, parents, teachers and community elder. IMCLS had roped in experts from various educational institutes and from different organizations to speak on the subject. The experts during the campaign decried lack of concern among the political leaders from the community on education. It observed that the Mishmi (Idu) inhabited areas in Arunachal till today did not have a single college or institute of higher education.
It felt that instead priority were put more on spending government resources on tourists lodges and unwanted infrastructures. The deliberations during the IMCLS campaign, therefore, called for bringing in change in people’s attitude and in political approach.
IMCLS during the campaign also visited all government schools. It noted that there was lack of adequate subject teachers in all schools in Dibang Valley district. Women wing of IMCLS took evaluation of students in the schools and found that students could not read and write properly even at the sixth standard.
Lack of parental involvement, poor learning environment, demoralized teachers and lack of resources and facilities for effective teaching characterized the schools in all rural areas of Dibang Valley.
Speaking on the need for parental involvement in children’s education, Razzeko Dele, Assistant Professor, IGGC College, Tezu said that what the parents today need to understand is that the new education system introduced in the schools requires active participation of parents as well.
“The new changes brought in the system are not understood by the teachers and the parents. And like the old days, educating children is left to teachers alone,” said Dele. “Our society must understand that home is the best place for children’s education and not the hostels.”
The IMCLS deliberations also spoke for encouraging games and sports in the community. It said playing sports and games instills sense of discipline in the youths and allegiance to authority, and is the best way to fight unwarranted drinking habits and drug addiction.

ITANAGAR, Jan 22: Assam Rifles Battalion deployed at Khonsa provided sports items to youths of Upper Sinnu and Pongkong village of Tirap under Civic Action Programme on January 19.
While handing the sports goods over to the villagers, the Army urged the village youths to make full use of the facilities provided to them and maintain the property. The villagers were also assured of further assistance as part of the Army’s social welfare schemes.

SEPPA, Jan 22: Irked with the plethora of problems which are hampering developmental activities of the district, the people of East Kameng huddled to hammer out the contentious issues primarily focusing on Education and health sectors in an Interaction Programme organized by All East Kameng Students Union (AEKSU) at government higher secondary school Auditorium hall Seppa on 18th January.

Addressing the trade and commerce cell of the party in its Naharlagun office today, PPA president Nikh Kamin stated that the present practice wherein the major contract works are fixed well in advance through MOU/MOA route are the root cause of the problems of the local contractors.
“Since majority of the ministers and legislators have their own companies and list of favorite firms, mostly from outside the state, therefore, the genuine local contractors registered as A, B, C, and D class etc. are mere spectators,” he alleged.
“There have been numerous other instances wherein the contractors from metropolitan cities follow our ministers in Delhi, Kolkata and Guwahati and strike the deal in five star hotels and thereafter execute the works in paper and transfer the public money in their accounts,” the PPA president alleged. Kamin further stated that if PPA comes to power, utmost care will be taken and policy initiated to ensure that the local contractors get their due share and recognition in rebuilding the state. The role of the big outsiders shall be limited to few highly specialized areas where the locals entrepreneurs lag or do not have the requisite experiences, he said.

To me the Taj Mahal is not only a symbol of love but a symbol of human endurance. Shah Jahan showed to the world what a man can do for his love. I feel his undying love, his artistry, his imagination and his genius must have put even the creations of God to shame. I will not articulate here what history tells me because I am not a Historian. Moreover, I took my wife all the way from Arunachal to Agra to have a feel of the wonderful and mystical aura provided by the Taj Mahal and not to dampen her spirit with the many sad tales associated with the magnificent Taj. Some of my friends had told me to see the Taj during full moon lit nights but it does not make any difference to me because for me Taj is a Taj that can never be recreated even by the modern day Engineers. It must have been a rare moment of man’s creative genius to build a monument like the Taj Mahal. I wish the great Mughal Emperors were engaged more in creating monuments than in fighting. This world should have been richer and an ordinary mortal like me would have been left more awestruck in wonderment looking at their creations.
Indeed, not for nothing, Rabindranath Tagore described the Taj Mahal as ‘a teardrop on the cheek of time.’ The most beautiful woman of those glorious days Mumtaz who melted the heart of the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, died while giving birth to her 14th child. It took more than 22 years and more than 20,000 artistes to build the Taj Mahal which is today, the cynosure of all the eyes of the world. It is such an irony that Shah Jahan had to see the Taj Mahal from a distance in Agra Fort as his son Aurengzeb kept him captive. Many also tell me that Shah Jahan got the signatures of all the artistes declaring not to create another Taj Mahal. However, the tragic history of the magnificent monument of love did not dampen the spirit of my wife and me. We got virtually lost in the environs of immortal love created by the Taj Mahal on the bank of the great River Jamuna. I was thinking that even God must have extended His helping hands to create the Taj. How was it possible? The art, the imagination, the engineering, the science, the angles, the balance, the huge structure, can human beings really do it? Mind you, there were no cranes, no excavators and other state of the art facilities but the wonderful Taj is there for every one to marvel at with amazement and disbelief. I now believe that love can move mountains. Had there been no love, there would not have been the Taj Mahal. Let us hail Shah Jahan’s undying love which made the seemingly impossible possible.
Little wonder then my wife and I returned from Agra with our love more reassured and further cemented thanks to the impact of the monument of love. The mere sight of the Taj made my wife value the value of love. Today, whenever I lose my cool for silly little reasons, she shows me our photographs taken at the Taj. With the undying and sweet memories of the Taj deeply engrained in my mind, I suggest my friends to take their dear wives to the Taj Mahal atleast once in their life time to ignite that doused fire if any, in their married life. Other side of story
Dear Editor,
This is in response to the allegation leveled against Tageng Padoh, CJM, Seppa published in your esteemed daily on 22nd Jan 2014. It was alleged that CJM Seppa had assaulted lady doctor Otam Taggu. The fact of the case is that Dr. Mrs Otam Taggu was deployed as EMO on 24th Dec’2013 in the District Hospital Aalo. My husband Tageng Padoh and I were not acquainted with her face and name before we met her in EMO Chamber.
On 24th Dec’ 2013, my husband was injured by a broken bottle while he was taking bath in Siyom river at 2.30 pm. As such, we rushed to the District Hospital Aalo for immediate medical treatment. We went to the EMO chamber and found no officer there. We came back to the side of emergency medical treatment room and my husband was seated in a bench at verandah. The bench was a new one and donated by Aalo House Wife Welfare Society. There was no nurse present in emergency and sister duty room. The maternity side was crowded and all the sisters were busy there. In the mean time one Er. T. Taggu whom we are acquainted came from maternity side and asked about my husband’s condition. My husband told him that he got injured and came for treatment. However, the EMO is not there in chamber. Thereafter my husband suggested me to look for EMO. A few minutes after, I came back from maternity side with the information that the EMO was not present there. Again I looked here and there and once again visited the EMO chamber but did not find anyone. Till then, my husband was having a private discussion with Er Taggu about the woman who comes to Aalo for delivery of Child.
By that time Dr Mrs Otam Taggu was standing nearby my husband at the distance of 6 to 8 feet and was listening to all conversation. She was in civil dress and was not even carrying a stethoscope. My husband, Er. Taggu and I could not identify her because she was not in Doctor Dress. A few minutes later, she went into the cabin adjacent to emergency room and immediately came back with paper and stethoscope. Then I noticed that she might be the EMO and I also came towards the EMO room along with my husband and found her seated there. I was standing in the door. My husband entered inside the room and took seat in patient stool with expectation of immediate treatment.
Surprisingly EMO Dr Mrs O. Taggu scolded my husband in bad manner saying that she heard all our discussion. Dr Taggu alleged that she had overheard my husband stating that there was no doctor in EMO room (Doctor Kamang in Adi dialect). Neither had she asked the name of my husband and the problems. All discussion was in Adi dialogue. She warned my husband and advised that he should ask nurse who is EMO on duty. My husband tried his best to let her understand that sentence ‘doctor Kamang’ was used in the context of doctor being not available in EMO room. It does not mean absent of EMO according to his understanding of ADI dialogue. She understood that Kamang means absent from duty which my husband never meant. Anyhow, my husband requested her to prescribe and treat him. However, she straightway refused to treat him and put down her pen and closed the registered folder in rage saying she is simple MBBS doctor and directed my husband to go to other specialist doctor. Then my husband suggested that if she had been wearing doctor dress or carrying stethoscope, he would have recognized her and approached straight way. She again lost her temper stating that my husband had no locus standi to ask her to put proper dress and stethoscope. She was insisting that my husband should have asked about the EMO from nurse only. In reply my husband told her that there is nothing written on her forehead stating that she is a doctor. She also replied that there was no mark on the forehead of a person implying that he is a patient. Again, my husband told her that he was handicapped due to leg injury and could not walk. Further my husband suggested that she should have identified from his walking style that he was a leg injured patient. Thereafter, my husband tried to stand up with the help of table to which she objected and asked him not to take help of the table. He was about to fall before I rushed in and rescued him. Accordingly, we left the room and my husband told her that he would lodge a complaint against her for refusal to give medical treatment.
Later we came to know from other staff that she is daughter of Talong Taggu, Ex MLA
and daughter in Law of Ogam Apum Ex-
On 25th Dec. 2013, my husband lodged FIR against her at Aalo police station. A day later on 26th December my husband lodged a complaint against Mrs Dr Otam Taggu M.O. before the DMO Aalo for necessary disciplinary action. In retaliation to the complaint, she lodged false FIR against my husband on 27th Dec’2013.
The Aalo Medical fraternity stated in their release stated that matter could have been settled by the Aalo Medical department. How they can settle the matter of my husband’s complaint before the Police and DMO? Do they have judicial authority to decide a matter pending at Aalo Police Station and DMO office?
Further, the allegation made in the release is complete deviation of the statement made in FIR lodged by Mrs Otam Taggu. My husband has no enmity with the Doctors Association and medical fraternity of Aalo. He had just lodged complaint against the erring officer in exercising his civil right. My husband had never used his official capacity in this regard. The APDA and Aalo medical fraternity is taking undue advantage of his post and exerting pressure on him to withdraw his complaint to which he had already refused. It is learnt from the reliable sources that a show cause notice has also been issued to the erring Officer by the authority. The police are also investigating the case on the FIR lodged by Dr. (Mrs) Otam Taggu against my husband. My husband’s injury has since then become a scar but an outdated issue has been highlighted in the newspaper with intention to malign his reputation.
